Wedding Favors Are A Common Things In Todays Weddings
Wedding favors go back a very long time. Wedding guests are use to having a little something special to take home from the reception table as their wedding keepsake. Because wedding favors have become such a distinctive part of the wedding experience today, finding something special for your wedding can be a little overwhelming. Personalized gifts for wedding favors are very popular or the keepsake for the guest might be a toasting glass. Wedding favors are different from the bridal shower favors although they both will relate to the wedding.
In places like France and Italy many years ago the practice for a wedding was that the guests were presented with a little gift known as a Bonbonniere. The traditional gift the guests were given was a small box made of a polished stone or crystal and had a few treats made of sugar. This is where the wedding favor tradition started. These Bonbonnieres were given out because they were supposed to be lucky. The couple believed that the luck that went with the little gifts they gave to their guests would also be theirs by giving the gifts. Five almonds covered with sugar was the accepted gift to be presented to the guests. The five almonds each carried a special meaning to the recipient; wealth, health, long life, fertility, and happiness. Today this is still used at weddings but the almonds are now coated with candy that looks like M&M’s. These are inexpensive items for the guests that have a very special meaning. Today there are really tons of unique ideas for wedding favors. There are many ideas for favors, for instance small scented decorative soaps, candles, candy that is personalized, place setting holders with special little keepsake frames, fresh tea packets that are personalized, and much more.
