The TFG gear fishing tackle range has been developed by by two people Matt Hayes and Simeon Bond. Matt Hayes needs no introduction at all we have all seen him on Total Fishing even if you are a non fisherman. Simeon and Matt have been friends for a long time . In the 90s, when Simeon was marketing manager for Shimano he gave Matt Hayes a job as a fishing consultant and started Matt’s TV presenting career that would see him rise the top of the TV angling tree with shows like Total Fishing using ingenious devices like the smartcast fishfinder or sitting behind his bite alarms
When he figured the time was right to produce his own fishing tackle in the form of TFG he did not have a second thought aboutpersuading Simeon to join him and hence Matt Hayes fishing tackle was born TFGear

It will probably be no surprise to you that loads of rods are designed by factory engineers in the far east and tested by men wearing suits in offices: while one holds the butt of the rod, the other bends the tip round and eventually one of them declares ‘that will do!’
Matt Hayes did not want this to happen with his fishing gear and every product that makes it to the Total fishing gear range has been thouroughly tested by either Matt or other top-level fishermen who are experts in their field; the match rods, for example, wheretested by a top fishing team; the carp rods have been used and abused by crazy carp fishermen and, obviously, Matt Hayes has enjoyed putting all of the fishing rod blanks through a rigorous trial and personally handled several of the developments.
TFG products do not get tested in the warmth of a factory : they are tested on the river bank, out in the wet and the mud where it really counts. After undergoing rigorous tests for action and performance, every fishing tackle item is thoroughly examined to see if major or minor improvements that could improve its performance.
