Today’s\ engagement rings: not the same
Unlike years in the past, where rings were limited by tradition and available craftsmen, today’s modern engagement rings come in a wide variety of styles, and it is now possible to buy discount engagement rings online. The break from tradition was probably with the introduction of the minimalistic look back in the 1960′s and the Tension engagement rings. There were others along the way but this was a clean break.
The single stand alone solitaire was still available but not the only choice anymore, although it is still considered one of the best online engagement rings. With the introduction of wider bands to incorporate baguette diamonds, accenting the solitaire has started to become the norm. There are still traditionalists out there and this is perfectly fine. Personally my fiance has a solitaire ring, but added to this is a second ring with accent diamonds that is perfectly shaped just to complement this ring. The solitaire itself is a break from tradition. It is a modified marquise diamond in the shape of a tear drop. I gave this as a symbol for the tears I would shed if she was ever to leave me.
This is the greatest advantage about today’s modern engagement rings are that with more choices — a great example is the marquise engagement ring. Your true feelings can be expressed. No longer is it just how big the rock is but how it is placed on the ring and the meaning behind it.
In past years, ladies were seen as delicate little flowers to be caressed and taken care of. This is still true in some cases but one would only need to see one ironwomans’ competition to know there are women out there today that are not delicate. For that active lady in your life, the bezel mounting might be preferred. This setting is spectacular and very solid. A ring of fine diamonds can surround the main stone while still looking elegant and full of fire. For the modern engagement rings, there is not set tradition that has to be followed.
