The Different Kinds of Water to Catch Bass
Bass are able to survive in almost any type of fresh water. They can even live in brachish (or kind of salty, kind of fresh water, where a stream meets the sea) too. Because of this, you will find bass in all different types of water. Bass love submerged things like rocks, trees and grass, and these are the best spots to catch bass, especially the large ones. These are the types of fishing tips you need to understand if you want to smoke your prey, the largemouth bass.
All Types of Lakes
If it is a human made lake, it may also be known as a reservoir, and thus probably used to control flooding and provide downstream cummunities with water. If it is a natural lake, look for shallow spots with plenty of cover that will hold fish. Try to find yourself in warm water, that’s where they bass like to congregate. But you can still catch them in a little bit cooler water, just make sure there is plenty of good bass habitat, as in submerged trees, grass, rocks, etc.
Rivers and Streams
You can also find rivers and streams to get good bass fishing. Slow moving water, with nice deeper holes of water that is kind of warm and contains all the good bass habitat will serve you well. You may also find good bass spots in estuaries, where a river deposits its fresh water into the sea. This type of habitat works good for bass, and they do very well here.
Small Man Made Bodies of Water and Ponds, Tanks
It doesn’t matter if the water way is natural, or men dug it out. When you have a small water way, full of bass and cover, you more or less have the fish in a captive environment. It is just a matter of water temperature, if it is too hot, you have an issue, if it is too cold, you have a problem. Bass tend to be lethargic in hot waters, and sluggish in cold water. They prefer water between 60 and 80 degrees.
At the end of the day, it usually isn’t finding the locations. It’s being able to fish them. As I said before, bass like the cover, so to fish them well, you need to fish the covered spots, which means getting your line stuck often. But oh, the marvelous advent of the weedless lure! Use them, and get into where they bass live, and you will do great!
